In 2005 the Forth Road Bridge was investigated and it was found that the cables had a reduction in strength of around 10%. As this crossing was a vital connection for Scotland it was decided to build a new cable stayed bridge on the alignment on the west of the existing bridge. This new Queensferry Crossing was the replacement of the Forth Road Bridge. DCN Diving was contracted by Forth Crossing Bridge Contractors (consortium made up of Dragados, Hochtief, American Bridge International and Morrison Construction) for dive support and underwater concreting of the construction of the bridge supports /foundations.
