Project Introduction

The Oosterscheldekering (English: Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier), between the islands Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland, is the largest of the thirteen ambitious Delta Works series of dams and storm surge barriers, designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea. Vriens Diving (former DCN) was one of the contractors who helped with the construction of the barrier (click here). The barrier requires high maintenance, and the area is challenging due to its high water currents. DCN was contracted from 2013 until now for the inspection, repair and maintenance of the barrier.
