Creating open air working environments underwater

DCN has gained considerable experience in the design, manufacture, deployment and operation of habitats and cofferdams used to execute complex subsea repairs to marine and offshore structures in a dry space subsea.

Our engineering team can modify our existing habitats to meet client requirements or, where modification is not feasible, we can design and manufacture bespoke habitats. Where water and working depth and conditions allow, DCN has a range of cost effective cofferdam solutions to create open air working environments underwater.

Habitats create a dry environment typically used to undertake a range of critical subsea tasks, including:

  • Welding
  • Repairs to sheet pile walls, locks and gates
  • Inspection
  • Cleaning and clearing tunnel boring machine heads
  • Concreting

In addition to static habitats, DCN has designed and manufactured self-propelled habitats to enable divers to operate in confined spaces where long distances limit free access to the surface and so prevent unaided diver intervention.
